Association of International Volunteering from Moldova (AVI Moldova) is looking for a placement officer for the 2017 workcamp season!
Who we are?
The Association of International Volunteering (AVI – Moldova) initially was a working group created in 2001. For three years it was functioning like a working group. In February 2004 it was officially registered as an NGO, a voluntary service organization aiming at promoting peace and tolerance, international volunteering, intercultural exchange, leadership, personal development, a healthy way of life, and human rights through voluntary activities. AVI-Moldova gained the official recognition as voluntary service peace organization from the international peace movement Service Civil International (SCI) by becoming its official Moldavian contact organization and receiving the status of an SCI group in 2003. During the upcoming years AVI-MD organized workcamps, seminars, trainings, youth exchanges, and street actions and was participating in SCI trainings and meetings.
What is a workcamp about?
Workcamps - short term projects with long term goals! Most of workcamps have a specific goal or task to be achieved in the 2 – 4 weeks of the project – for example, volunteers may repaint a school, increase awareness of peace movement or organize activities for asylum seekers. The work that they do is valuable and always appreciated by local communities, but the impact of these projects is also much larger. By living with people of different backgrounds and working together to help others, each workcamp helps pave the way to a more peaceful world. Most workcamps consist of 5 – 15 participants from a variety of countries and they generally occur during the summer months. The participants live by local standards and with as much contact with the local people as possible. The camps are facilitated by either one or two camp leaders but are run by the principles of communal living, group decision making, equal participation and collective problem solving. The camps can vary from physical labor to more educational tasks and many also involve a study component.
Who is the placement officer?
Placement officer is a staff member of AVI Moldova, who is in charge to help volunteers from Moldova willing to take part in an international workcamp and to help international volunteers to be part of projects we run in Moldova.
The tasks and responsibilities:
- Promotion of workcamps and other projects for volunteers, using the tools provided by the organization in cooperation with our PR coordinator;
- Support volunteers within the application process for international projects;
- Support volunteers to obtain a visa for a specific country if needed;
- To be the contact person for communication with partners in the whole network regarding the workcamps implemented at international level.

More details:
Location: The job is placed in our office from Chisinau.
Time: The placement officer starts the work with the initial training in February 2017 and ends up the placement season in October 2017. Working time: 4 h/day, 3 day per week.
End of work: At the end of the season, the placement officer has to fill in the report about the working process and projects implementation, with the help of the organization’s staff. If the placement officer has good working results, he might represent AVI Moldova at the evaluation meeting within our partners from SCI network, that takes place annually in October and is hosted by one partner from European countries.
