Young Researchers of Serbia invites to participate in a workcamp where you can help elderly people to escape from loneliness.

Description: Home “Bezanijska Kosa”, within the Gerontology Center Belgrade, is the largest in the country and one of the largest in Europe. The Home is built according to modern building standards and it employs professional staff to take care of the residents and create an atmosphere of free and solidary community life.
Type of Work: The idea for the organization and implementation of the international volunteer work camp arises as a need for assistance in improving the living conditions of adults and older people who are housed in the institution. The volunteers will be engaged on work with elderly people, residents of elder care center “Bezanijska kosa”. They will participate in creative workshops, planned with professionals. Besides that, they will maintain garden (planting flowers, cutting grass and cleaning paths in yards), take out residents for the walk, spending time with them.
Study Theme: Volunteers will have a workshop with the centre’s employees about communication with elderly people and fulfilling of their needs.
Accommodation: The volunteers will be accommodated in rooms with beds of elder care center “Bezanijska kosa” with toilets and showers. Meals will be provided with the centre residents.
Approximate Location: Area Bezanijska kosa is in a quiet part of the city of Belgrade and belongs to New Belgrade municipality. There will be organized an excursion for participants to meet important places of cultural and historical heritage of city of Belgrade.

Travel cost: to be covered by the volunteer.
Participation fee: 50 euro.
