Apply for EVS position in Germany!!!

SCI Germany is looking for 2 LTVs to assist in our office.

Both LTV posts will start March 1, 2008 with a common introdution/orientation. 1 LTV posts will end August 31, 2008, the other LTV posts will end September 2008.

The main tasks of the volunteers will be:

LTV I: Placing foreign and German volunteers to workcamps in Germany (incoming)

LTV II: Placing German volunteers to workcamps abroad in Western and Eastern Europe and Overseas (outgoing)

- Helping to prepare the routine jobs, such as answering the phone & e-mails, sending faxes. So an important part during the placement is reliable communication with other SCI-Branches, partners and volunteers.

- Preparation and leading a preparation-seminar for workcamp-participants

- Taking part in an international preparation-seminar for campleaders (and maybe also other trainings)

- To gain experience as a co-leader of an international or bilateral workcamp taking place in Germany (your choice).

- Assisting the project coodinators with projects (depending in interest and qualification of the LTV).

The aim of the LTV-post, besides doing the placement, is to enable the volunteer to get acqainted with the work of SCI Germany and to provide a meaningful training experience in an organisation of international exchange and volunteer work. The applicants chosen will be encouraged to take part in different activities of the branch. They will be under the supervision of the project co-ordinator for international or bilateral Exchange programmes. Each of the volunteers will have a mentor.

Working hours/Holidays/Accomodation/Pocket money/Food:

- Regular working hours are 38,5 hours per week but some overtime may be necessary (free time will be given in lieu).

- The LTV will have two days of vacation per month (can be accumulated).

- The LTV will be provided with free accomodation (One option is upstairs in the Blücherstr. 14 in Bonn/same house as the SCI-office. Another option might be a host family in Bonn or Cologne or a room in a community household).

- The LTV will be paid out a daily allowance for food, which is 6,00 € per day unless s/he takes part in a programme where food is provided).

- The LTV will also receives a pocket money of 175,00 € per month.

Insurance is provided by the SCI Insurance Scheme (conditions of the insurance can be found here: www.sciint.org/insurance )

 
Requirements:

- Good knowledge of English and preferably also basic knowledge of German (in order to reply to e-mails and to answer the phone in both languages)

- We can only consider applicants from Moldova and Ukraine

- Minimum 20 years old; Maximum: 27 years old

- Flexibilty, maturity and ability to handle stress

- To work in a very reliable and responsible way

- Experience and motivation to do mundane office work

- Open minded and high motivation for volunteer work

- Good communication skills to motivate and counsel volunteers over the phone

- Computer literacy

- Ability to work in a team with other volunteers and staff members as well as independent and self organised.

Due to the funding scheme, applicants for these posts must have their permanent residence in Moldova or Ukraine.

Visit to the Charity Center for Refugees
As a part of the national week of voluntary work, on Thursday, 26th April 2007, a group of AVI volunteers went to the refugee charity center from Chisinau, Buiucani district, to do a work shop on Moldovan culture and cultural differences. The volunteers running the workshop were: Cezar Cernei, Alina Secrieru, Carolina Secrieru and Daniel Nylin Nilsson.
